The manufacturer of “Viagra” stopped deliveries to Russia
The American company Viatris informed the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Moscow already last year
The American pharmaceutical company “Viatris” stops the supply of the preparation “Viagra” in the form of tablets in Russia, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia announced, quoted by TASS.
“The drug with the trade name Viagra corresponds to the international non-proprietary name (INN) sildenafil, and its production is not localized in Russia. In 2022, Viatris informed about the suspension of the supply of the drug in the form of tablets,” noted the trade department of Russia.
The authorities in Moscow add that there is an opportunity to produce the preparation on the territory of Russia, as the technological requirements are covered by 8 local pharmaceutical companies. According to data from the Ministry of Industry, from January to September of this year production of erectile dysfunction drugs in Russia increased by 11 percent, and sales of these drugs jumped by 15 percent.
A few days ago, doctors from the Huntington Medical Center announced that taking Viagra, as well as other drugs for erectile dysfunction in men, can reduce the risk of early death. A study has shown that in men taking similar drugs, the risk of death due to cardiovascular diseases is reduced by 39%, “Gazeta.Ru” adds.
